Our tool uses ELA (Error Level Analysis) technology to detect photo manipulation. When an image is edited, different parts show different compression levels. The detector highlights these inconsistencies, making edited areas visible.

Upload a picture that you know has not been edited as a reference.. Note its ELA result characteristics (edges and high-contrast areas will have natural bright spots). Then upload the suspicious image for comparison. If certain areas show significantly different noise patterns, brightness levels, or abnormal bright spots (especially in smooth areas like sky or walls), those regions were likely modified. Normal images show relatively uniform ELA results with brightness only at edges and details.

The detector can identify Photoshop edits, object additions/removals, copy-paste modifications, retouching, compositing, and most forms of digital image manipulation. It works best on JPEG images due to their lossy compression format.

Brighter areas in the ELA result indicate regions with different compression levels. This often (but not always) indicates manipulation. Note: Image edges, text boundaries, and high-contrast areas (like black-white transitions) naturally appear brighter - this is normal. Focus on unusual bright spots in smooth areas (sky, walls, faces).

This tool is designed for traditional photo editing detection. AI-generated images (Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, etc.) may show different patterns since they're not created by editing real photos. For best results, use this tool to detect modifications made to real photographs.

Try adjusting the 'Detection Quality' slider. Lower values (60-70%) work better for obvious large-area edits, while higher values (90-99%) help detect subtle local manipulations. Also adjust the 'Zoom Level' to examine suspicious areas in detail. We recommend trying multiple parameter combinations for comparison.

ELA is a reliable forensic technique, but it's not 100% foolproof. Accuracy depends on image format (JPEG works best), editing sophistication, and image history. The tool excels at detecting obvious edits, copy-paste modifications, and inconsistent compression. However, it may show false positives on images with multiple saves/compressions, and skilled manipulations using proper techniques may go undetected. Always use ELA as one tool among multiple verification methods for critical analysis.
